William Van Zandt Wilson III, 89, of Sellersville, PA, passed away peacefully on January 16th, 2025, in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Montclair, NJ, William was the son of the late William Wilson II, and the late Lillian (Stirling) Wilson.
Bill was a member of the first graduating class of Pennridge High School in 1954. He attended Lehigh University before serving his country in the U.S. Marines. Throughout his career, he held a variety of sales jobs, but the most meaningful to him were with our local Schulmeric Carrillons and Malmark, Inc.- Bellcraftsmen, as he could mix a bit of work with a bit of ministry.
Serving God, his country, and his community were important to Bill, holding leadership roles in many of his volunteer activities. He was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church and before that the Presbyterian Church of Deep Run. He was President of the Bucks County Covered Bridge Society, and was a member of the Pennridge School Board for 12 years, beginning in the mid-1970s.
Above all else, Bill loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them, especially his summers in Cape May, NJ.
Bill will be dearly missed by his wife, Gale Hewitt, together they shared 36 loving years of marriage; his children, Karen Gilliss of Towson MD, Bill Wilson of Salvisa KY, Maureen McIlvaine of Jamison PA, and Jill Scheetz of Coopersburg PA; along with his stepchildren David Kaiser of Haycock PA, Lyn Kaiser of Manheim PA, and Barbara Kaiser of Lambertville NJ; and his brother Donald Wilson of Collegeville PA. Bill and Gale share 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Bill is predeceased by his first wife, Phyllis Kratz Wilson, son David W.P. Wilson, stepson Michael Kaiser, grandson David Timothy Kaiser, and his sister, Leslie Fitzpatrick.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in William Wilson’s name to the Bucks County Covered Bridge Society, PO Box 96, Perkasie, PA 18944.
