William R. Underwood, 73, of Reigelsville, Springfield Twp., died Friday Nov. 9 in his home. He was the loving husband of Sandra (Linkletter) Underwood. Born in Bristol, Bucks Co., he was a son of the late Percival G. and Elizabeth (Hanssens) Underwood. Bill served his country with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked 35 years for Verizon before retiring. He was an avid fresh water fisherman and enjoyed woodworking. Bill was instrumental in the building of the family home known as ‘Woods Edge' completing much of the building, wood working, mechanical & electrical himself to the end of passing inspections with flying colors. One of Bill's greatest pleasures was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren, with whom he freely shared his many talents and skills to their delight. Surviving with his wife are his sons, Robert, wife Stacey Donelson in Colorado and Justin, wife Kate of Quakertown; grandchildren Emma Grace, Logan William, Owen and Caitlyn; siblings Percival G. "Butch", wife Barbara Weiss of Harleysville, Russell, wife Betty of Pennsburg, Catherine Rantz, Perkasie, Elizabeth Croak of Lehighton, Pat Thompson, Bob of Warminster, Tim of Jenkintown, and Charles of Jenkintown. He was predeceased by siblings Elaine Schaeffer, Marie Price, and Frank. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service 11 am Friday Nov. 16 in the Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown with a visitation preceding 10 - 11 am. Interment in Washington Crossing National Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. The family requests memorial contributions be directed to St. Luke's Hospice, 240 Union Station Plaza, Bethlehem, PA 18015.
