William Peischel, 90, of Quakertown, died peacefully at home Thurs. August 26. He was the loving husband of Janice (Crowther) Peischel. They recently celebrated 59 yuears of marriage. Born in Haycock Twp., he was a son of the late John & Anna (Wukovits) Peischel. Bill served his country with General Patton's Third Army, 26th "Yankee" Division, 104th Infantry, during World War II, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. For over 30 years he worked at the former Naval Air Development Center, Johnsville, first as an electronics technician and then as assistant supervisor of the Metrology Lab. He previously worked for Dimmig Electric, Quakertown. Bill was member of St. Isidore's Catholic Church, Quakertown. He was A 60 year member and past commander of the Wallace Willard Keller American Legion, Quakertown. He was also a member of John Rivers Memorial VFW Post #11322, Quakertown. For years he coordinated the placement of flags and markers on veterans' graves in Upper Bucks County. He served over 20 years on the Quakertown Area Planning Commission and the Bucks county Palnning Commission. His focus while serving with these commisiions was to preserve open space. He was a member of the Quakertown, Richland, and Springfield Historical Societies, but devoted his greatest efforts to the Haycock Historical Society, the region he knew the best. Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Jane Gross, and her husband James of Big Island, VA, his son, Robert, wife Jenifer, Mt. Laurel, NJ, and grandchildren William & Annie Peischel. He was predeceased by brothers, Charles, Adolph, & Richard Peischel, and sisters Clementine Hottle & Anna Peischel. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tues. Aug. 31, 10:30 AM in St. Isidore's catholic Church, 2545 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown. Interment St. Paul's Cemetery, Applesbachsville. Call at the church Tues. 9:30 - 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Isidore's Catholic Church, 531 W. Broad St., Quakertown, Pa 18951 or The American Legion Post #242, 610 E. Broad St., Quakertown, Pa. 18951.
