William Green

d. January 1, 2013

William H. Green, 82, of Blooming Glen, died Wednesday October 2, in his home. He was the husband of Faith (Gaerthe) Green, for 53 years. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Freeman) Green. William worked for over 25 years for the SEPTA as a bus driver prior to his retirement in 1994. While on his bus route he smelled a heavy odor of natural gas and left his bus and went door to door urging individuals to leave their homes and the area prior to a disasterous gas explosion. He had an enduring love of railroading and volunteered for 10 years at the New Hope & Ivyland Railroad. In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons, Jonathan, wife Kim, of Perkasie, and Mark, wife Gretchen of Quakertown; daughters Doreen Richardson, husband Jeff, of Pottstown and Gwendolyn Forsythe of Blooming Glen; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Richard and Gerald and sisters Marjorie and Clara. Services will be held Tuesday October 8, 11 am in the Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd, Quakertown. Family and friends may call from 10-11 am.
