William Gotwals

William L. Gotwals, Sr. of Hatfield went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Wilhelmina (Willie) Gotwals, his brothers, Charles and Edwin Gotwals, his sister, Mary Seelig, and his great-grandchild, Noah Johnson. Born September 4, 1927 in Lansdale, PA and graduated from Lansdale High School. Bill served in the U.S. Navy in World War II on the USS Intrepid and worked for over 30 years as an advertising salesman for Shaw-Barton of Ohio. He was a lifetime member of Montgomery Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, trustee, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. Bill was an avid golfer, loved to watch the Phillies and Eagles, and enjoyed many family vacations in Ocean City, NJ over the years. He will be fondly remembered for his sense of humor and ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. He is survived by his nine children: son, Bill and his wife, Nancy of Perkasie, PA, son Gary and his wife, Beth, of Perkasie, PA, son Bruce of Bradley Beach, NJ, son Wayne of Hatfield, PA, daughter Diane and her husband, Dennis of Quakertown, PA, daughter Lynda and her husband, Robert of Muncy, PA, son Andy and his wife, Tracy of Franconia, PA, son Ted of Hatfield, PA and daughter Nancy and her husband, Michael of Fresno, CA. Bill is also survived by 16 beautiful grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, January 10th at Montgomery Baptist Church, Route 309, Colmar, PA. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the church. Interment and a light luncheon will follow the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in his memory be made out to Montgomery Baptist Church of Colmar, PA (www.montchurch.com). Arrangements are by Jeffery A.
