Valerie F. Derstine, 69, of Quakertown, died Thurs., Aug. 25, at St. Luke's University Hospital, Bethlehem. She was the beloved wife of Kenneth N. Derstine for the past 49 years. Born in Norristown, she was a daughter of the late John and Daphne (Rose) Krizovensky. She was a graduate of St. Cyrils Academy, Danville. Val served for many years as a pianist, organist and music director at her church, St. Peter's Tohickon UCC, Perkasie. She was a longtime member of the American Guild of Organists. She was an amateur radio operator with the call sign WA3UTM. She was also among the first group of women to go through firefighter training in Bucks County. Surviving with her husband is her daughter, Amanda Garber, husband Barry of Pottstown; son, Kenneth R. Derstine of Perkasie; grandchildren: Ethan and Ella Garber; siblings: Jack, Raymond, Thomas, Peter and Daphne; and her treasured pets: Heidi, Shelly, Tonka and Holly. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Wed. August 31 at St. Peter's Tohickon United Church of Christ, 1050 Old Bethlehem Rd., Perkasie. Friends and family may call from 7:00-9:00 PM Tues.
