Thomas Osborne Murray, 71, of Haycock Township, passed away Saturday May 3, 2014 in St Luke's Hospice in Bethlehem. He is survived by his wife Mary Ellen; son Robb; son William and wife Debra; granddaughters Evelyn and Kathryn; and a sister Laury Griffin and her husband John. He is predeceased by his parents William "Oz" and Ruth Murray. Tom grew up in Bay Village, Ohio and graduated from North Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh in 1960. He earned an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, and graduated with an Engineering degree with the class of 1964 (10th Company). After earning his wings as a Naval Aviator, he served in Vietnam flying off the USS Roosevelt. When he returned to the states, Tom was stationed in Norfolk, Va. where he met and married Mary Ellen. They moved to Pensacola where Tom served as a Navy flight instructor. Tom continued his flying career as a commercial airline pilot, working for Eastern Airlines for 19 years. In 1989, Tom began a new career in Real Estate with RE/MAX 440, Inc. in Quakertown. In 1973, Tom and Mary Ellen bought an old stone house in Haycock where they raised their boys and set about learning to farm. Tom was always interested in learning new things. There was never a project or challenge he wouldn't take on, and his family was his proudest achievement. Memorial services will be held Saturday August 16, at 10:30 am, in the Jeffrey A.
