Thomas Ainsworth "Tom" Lynde, 81, of Quakertown, PA, passed away on December 22, 2024. Tom was born in Kansas City, MO on July 18, 1943 to the late William Thomas Lynde and Eleanor Jane (Ward) Lynde. He was the loving husband of Wendy Lynde for 52 years.
Tom graduated from El Paso High School, in El Paso, TX, then attended New Mexico Military Institute on a football scholarship for his freshman year of college, before transferring to College of the Mines (known now as UTEP; University of Texas at El Paso). He graduated from college and joined the Navy, served in Vietnam, attended dental school at Saint Louis University, earning his doctorate as a Prosthodontist in 1973. He served in the Navy for 23 years, retiring as a Captain, receiving the Navy Commendation Medal (Second Award), Combat Action Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, Battle ' E " Award, Meritorious Unit Commendation Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Humanitarian Award. Following his time in the Navy, he became a professor at several universities, including Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry, specializing in prosthodontist training. Tom was an avid health enthusiast, running marathons, playing golf, swimming, and generally staying active whenever possible. He coached his kids' soccer teams. In his retired years, he took his woodworking skills to the next level and then Tom and Wendy would operate a B&B for 12 years in Sevierville, TN. Tom and Wendy traveled the world, with Spain being a favorite stop, along with other members of the family.
Tom is survived by his wife Wendy; sons Christian (Becca) Lynde and Zachary (Lori) Lynde; grandchildren Gracie, Charlie, Josephine, and Jameson; sister Susie (Bruce) White; sister-in-law Marilyn Jay; and many other loving family and friends. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Ward Lynde.
All are invited on Monday, January 13 to The Farm Bakery & Events, 2475 W. Zion Hill Rd., Quakertown, PA 18951 for a memorial service at 11:00am followed by a brunch.
