Susan Marie Dietterich, 53, of Pennsburg, PA, left us to join her dad in Heaven, on August 27, 2024. Susan was born March 24,1971, in Columbus, Ohio to Linda (Schluns) and Charles Dietterich. She attended Pleasant Valley High School where she played bells in the band, was on the debate team and was an avid writer of poems, short stories full of imagine. Susan earned her BS in Accounting at Bloomsburg College, in Bloomsburg, PA. Susan continued her education at Penn State and graduated with high honors and her master's degree in business administration. To know Susan, is to know she was, and always will be, a faithful Penn State Fan, she especially enjoyed watching their football games!
Susan’s passion was in pharmaceutical research and marketing. Susan spent 16 years with Merck Pharmaceutical where she participated in conducting focus groups, and assisting in developing commercials, with her most prized commercial being for their Shingles vaccine which she did with Terry Bradshaw! In 2021, Susan transferred to an up-and-coming pharmaceutical company that allowed her to work from home, still doing what she loved, specifically, working with the doctors, the pharmacies, and clinics with a focusing on research for oncology and cardiac medicines. Most recently, Susan was accepted as a private contractor for AstraZeneca, where she was working with the Internatinal Group, focused on the nasal flu vaccine, that would also protect against covid. This new role afforded her the opportunity to work with companies around the globe. Susan was a wonderful writer, she made writing look so easy.
The pharmaceutical sales industry will miss her for years to come. Since tackling a stringent strain of Covid in 2020, Susan has fought many pulmonary illnesses and did so with grace, strength, and happiness. Susan’s friends and co-workers, past and present, have shared the following about Susan, “is a pillar to the industry, one of the most talented marketing researchers, never afraid to express her opinion even if she did so with humor, a wonderful advocate for patients getting access to therapy or medicine, a true gem plus a very caring friend, intelligent, compassionate, innovative, she will be remembered for her beautiful legacy of making patient’s lives better.”
In her free time, Susan enjoyed spending time with her fur babies, Gabby and Allie, both shelties. Susan was also an incredibly good listener and was always available to anyone needing someone to talk to. She never met a stranger and, if needed, she would have given you the sweater off her back or her last dollar without looking back. Susan was humble, she never bragged about her career accomplishments, however, what she did brag about and cherished most in the world were her 3 nephews, Nick, Ian and Charlie.
Susan was the eldest of 44+ grandchildren, and yes, she reminded us often, that she was the 1st, jokingly of course. Her mother, brother, sister-in-law, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and her many friends were her pride and joy. Susan was very charismatic, humorous, and full of cheer and laughter.
Susan is survived by her mother, Linda Dietterich, brother, Rick (Mona) Dietterich and three nephews Nick, Ian and Charlie. Proceeding her in death, her father, Charles. Dietterich and her grandparents. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Susan’s name to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
