Shirley Jean Coryell of New Hope, Pennsylvania, passed away at home on December 7, 2021 at the age of 88. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Robert Coryell who passed away on February 9, 2015 and with whom she shared 62 years of marriage. Today, we remember both of their lives.
Born in Hatboro, PA, Shirley was one of eleven children of the late Walter and Jennie Gledhill. Shirley was a graduate of Upper Southampton-Warminster High School and earned her Associates Degree from Bucks County Community College. She worked at Vicks Manufacturing, and later as an office manager for several local small businesses for many years, but took the most pride in her work as a homemaker for her family. Shirley was an avid crafter, card player, loved jigsaw puzzles, and treasured her collection of Santas.
Joseph was the son of the late Joseph and Catherine Coryell and brother to the late Catherine Reinheimer. He served our country as a proud member of the United States Air Force 49th Communications Squadron. Upon his completion of service, he joined IBM, where he worked his way from a service technician to executive management during his 38 plus year career. After his retirement, he volunteered as a board member for the Palisades school district. He was a dedicated family man and loved his collection of eagles and wolves.
Prior to their deaths, Joe and Shirley were able to realize their dream of traveling the world together. A few of their adventures included gondola boats in Italy, glacier climbing in Alaska, cable cars in Switzerland, European river cruises, and biplane flights in their favorite country New Zealand.
Shirley and Joseph are survived by their three daughters and one son, Shirley Johnson (Robert), Kathi Ann Dillon (Roger), Michelle Klein, and Steven (Amy), along with seven grandchildren and one great- grandchild. Shirley is survived by one sister, Helen Sharp.
