Sara Chittick

Sara G. Chittick, 99, of Doylestown, died Fri. Sept. 15 in the Souderton Mennonite Community. She was the widow of John K. Chittick. Born in Hilltown Twp., she was a daughter of the late Charles and Susie (Hunsberger) Godshalk. She and her husband owned and operated the Dutch Maid Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Doylestown. Sara was an active member of Doylestown Mennonite Church previously serving as a Sunday school teacher, Bible School teacher, quilter, and member of the sewing circle. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and would volunteer for Mennonite Disaster Service and other service opportunities. Sara always made time for family and hosted many friends who enjoyed her wonderful meals and baking. She enjoyed her hobby of braiding rugs, assisted by her daughter Alyce. Surviving are her sons, David, wife Mary Lee of Perkasie, Donald, wife Pati of Tavernier, FL, Robert, wife Gladys of Aurora, OH; daughters Alyce Curtis, husband Bruce of Doylestown, Suzanne Phillips of Cooper City, FL; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Blanche Althouse , husband Vernon of Souderton. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a granddaughter, Karen Curtis, and sisters Martha Meyers & Esther Mae Godshalk. Funeral services will be held Mon. Sept. 25, 2 PM in Doylestown Mennonite Church with a calling hour beginning at 1:00 PM. Interment will be in the church cemetery following the service. In place of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in her name are sent to Mennonite Disaster Service, 583 Airport Rd., Lititz, PA 17543.
