Richard T. Walter, Sr., of Mechanicsburg, died Thurs., Mar. 24, in Baltimore Washington Medical Center, Glen Burnie, MD. For 51 years he has been the loving husband of Beulah E. (Moyer) Walter. He was in construction management for Pullman Power Products for more than 25 years, a construction and engineering firm that built power plants worldwide. He was recognized for his accomplishments in his profession and earned his Professional Engineers license in Quality Assurance. Following his retirement, he worked 13 years at Spruce Lake Retreat, Canadensis, Pa, first as Director of Operations and later as Director of Development, fundraising for the Retreat. Born in Easton, Pa, he was a son of the late Charles & Louise (Kirchhofer) Walter. Richard and his family moved to many interesting places with his career, but where ever he settled, he would quickly locate a church where he would become an active member and participate in roles of leadership such as teaching Sunday school or serving as an Elder. Presently he attended the Evangelical Free Church, Mechanicsburg. He thoroughly understood the concept of Christian stewardship, giving without expecting recognition. Richard loved his family and was a great family provider & good example for his children. He enjoyed his friends and many sought his advice and knowledge. He was respected by his co-workers and peers. Surviving with his wife are sons Richard T., Jr, wife Maria, Brownsville, TX, John C., wife Jill, Oak Ridge, TN, Steven T., wife Lisa, Lancaster, daughter Linda J. Weaver, husband Mark, Mechanicsburg, brothers Charles III, wife Joan, Hudson, FL, & John, wife Judy, Easton, grandchildren Mistidawn, Richard III, Jordan, Sydney, Nicholas, Savannah, Luke, Matthew, & Rachel, great-grandson, Boston. He was predeceased by Sister Eleanor Semore. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wed., Mar. 30 at Swamp Mennonite Church, Quakertown. Viewing hours Tues, Mar. 29, 6 - 8 PM and Wed. 10 - 11 AM in the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
