Richard Hockenberry, Sr.

Richard Silas Hockenberry, Sr., age 79, died Mon. Aug 31, 2020, at his home in Quakertown. Born June 21, 1941, in Port Royal, he was the son of the late Silas and Arrietta (Troutman) Hockenberry, and the husband of Sharon (Michael) Hockenberry, to whom he was married 60 years. Richard Hockenberry was a devout Christian, loving husband, hard worker, great father, and inspiration to all who knew him. His interests included: attending Community Baptist Church in Coopersburg, many trips to the Q-Mart, camping, junk collecting, guns, riding his scooter all over town, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and his dog. In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by: son Richard Hockenberry, Jr. (wife Jill) of Quakertown; daughters Susan Buehrle (husband Tim) of Quakertown, and Deborah Colwell (husband Gary) of Mertztown; 12 beloved grandchildren; and 9 adored great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by: son Donald Hockenberry; and sisters Viola Miller, and Dolly Messimer. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Wed. Sept. 2, 2020, at Community Baptist Church, at 7350 Elementary Road, Coopersburg, PA 18036. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Baptist Church at the address above.
