Richard G. "Rich" Gerlach, of Quakertown, died Wed. Jan 9 in LifeQuest after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the husband of Virginia (Molinari) Gerlach. Born Mar. 25, 1942, he was the first born son of the late Richard Grant & Helen Marie (Trautman) Gerlach. A 1960 graduate of Neshaminy High School and a 1966 graduate of East Stroudsburg University where majored in biology education and began his love of music. He was a member of many bands including the Cumberland Mountain Boys, The Folkmen, Skookil Express, Buckskin, The Daisy Jug Band, Thunder Creek, Without A Paddle, Mail Pouch Express and Homespun Bluegrass. Surviving with his wife are his brother, Bill & Donna (Paist) Gerlach; children Kimberly (Gerlach) Chambers, Rick & Maggie (Devine) Gerlach, Gretchen (Gerlach) Samuels, husband John, Kathleen (Gerlach) Brittingham, husband Bob; 7 grandchildren, William Chambers, Kristopher Chambers, Taylor Gerlach, Maddison Gerlach, Zach Samuels, Jonathan Samuels, & Hunter Gerlach; & great-granddaughter Lillian Chambers.
