Regina M. Finlayson, of Hilltown passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020. She is reunited with her loving husband, Norman L. Finlayson, who predeceased her. Regina and Norman were married over 50 years when he passed away. Regina died peacefully and was surrounded by family in her final hours. She was 76. Born March 27, 1943, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late John J. Stiglich and Elva H. (Ansel) Stiglich. She is survived by her children, Norman Finlayson and his wife, Eileen, of Quakertown, John Finlayson and his wife, Jill, of Quakertown, Joseph Finlayson and his wife, Jennifer, of Perkasie, Daniel Finlayson and his wife, Donna, of Quakertown and Leah Finlayson and her wife, Julie, of Philadelphia. Regina was a loving and proud grandmother to 12 grandchildren, Jessica, Rachel, Megan, Joey, Josh, Erinne, Kevin, Mary Kate, Jaden, Jacoby, Danny and Juniper. She is also survived by her siblings, Marie Pittman and her husband, Leon, of Warrington, Linda Groeber and her husband, Paul, of Hatfield, Patricia Ziemba of Newtown, and John Stiglich and his wife, Janis, of Quakertown. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Harry L. Finlayson and his wife, Linda, of North Wales. Regina and Norman always put their family first and Regina was initially a stay at home mom to her rowdy clan. She eventually went back to school at night to pursue her goal of becoming a teacher. Regina taught both Dan and Leah as their fourth-grade teacher. Regina understood the importance of education for herself and others. She continued her education and obtained a Masters' degree. She became principal of various grade schools, notably, Raub Middle School where, in 2004, Raub was chosen for a visit from then Governor Rendell due to the school's accomplishments in improving their PSSA test scores. Regina was a driving force in raising the safety and educational standards in the school. Regina then became the Director of Curriculum and Instruction in the Allentown School District before her retirement. She has positively affected the lives of thousands of students in her roles as teacher, principal, and educator. Regina was a dedicated wife and mother. She was an avid reader. She was excited to become a grandmother and spent many hours with her grandchildren. She loved spending holidays surrounded by family. Upon retirement, she and her husband traveled extensively both within the United States and internationally. She had a great curiosity for other cultures and sponsored children from Russia and China in her home. After her husband's passing, she volunteered at Pearl S. Buck for many years, even participating as a model in their Fashion show fundraiser. Those who know Regina, know she was a very tough and strong woman but she was also extremely generous and often did anonymous acts of kindness. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 31, at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 100 Broad Street, Hilltown, Pennsylvania, where family and friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery where she will be buried next to her husband, Norman. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Regina's name to Pearl S.
