Raymond E. Fulmer, age 76, of Quakertown, PA and Sebring, FL passed away on Monday, March 14 at his home in Sebring, FL. His wife of 37 years, Betty (Kegerreis) Fulmer was at his side. He fought a long and courageous battle against cancer. The son of Raymond and Saloma (Knauss) Fulmer, he is survived by sisters Patricia (Johnny) Walker, Phoenix AR and Susan (Page) Moffat, Leesburg, VA. as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers. A graduate of Quakertown High School, he received his Bachelors degree from Kutztown University, Masters degree from Temple and did extensive graduate work at Bucknell University. Ray was a supervisor and language arts teacher in the Boyertown Area School District for thirty six years. The New Theatre Ensemble high school acting troupe, under his direction, placed first in the state championships with its production of Dylan Thomas's Under Milkwood. He was a lifetime member of the Dutch Country Players and along with his wife founded Limelight Productions in Boyertown. Professional theatre credits include directing at Bucks County Playhouse as well as numerous performances at The Main Street Theatre in Quakertown, A theatre critic for many years he also served in Philadelphia on The Barrymore Awards committee. As an award-winning poet, his works were published in many anthologies including numerous Pennsylvania Poetry Society publications. He published two chapbooks, Between Tick and Tock and Quartet. He was also an accomplished photographer and enjoyed using color pencil as the medium for his quirky drawings. He was a member and former president of the Upper Bucks Sertoma Club. He served on the Board of Director's of Quakertown Alive! and The Main Street Theatre. During his tenure as president of Quakertown Borough Council The Michener Library was built and the community pool was renovated. As a proud Marine, Ray was stationed in Okinowa and Japan in the mid 1950's. His wife Betty, shih tzu Brady, family, friends, former students and collegues were enriched by his love of knowledge and his many talents. Sempre Fi , Ray Services will be held Saturday March 19, 2011 at the First United Church of Christ, Park Avenue and Fourth Streets. The viewing is at 10:00 am followed by services at 11:00 am.
