Ray W. Stever 63, of Quakertown, died Tuesday, March 2nd in St. Luke's Bethlehem Hospital. He has operated the Ray W. Stever Fire Extinguisher Service for the past 8 years. Previously he was an installer & inspector of fire suppression systems for Tilley Fire Equipment Co., Doylestown for over 15 years and had worked at the former Renninger Clothing Co., Quakertown. Born in Quakertown, he was a son of the late Charles O. & Marilyn (Hartman) Stever and graduated from Quakertown High School, Class of 1965. Ray served his country as a hospital corpsman under the US Navy assigned to a Marine Corp battalion that saw heavy action in Vietnam 1968 -89. Active in volunteer fire service since his teenage years, he was a Past Chief of the Quakertown Fire Dept., a member of Quakertown Fire Co.#1 where he served as a Lieut, Battalion Chief, Safety Officer, and Trustee. Formerly, he was a member of the Western Salisbury Fire Co., Lehigh Co. He was a life member of the Bucks Fire Chiefs & Firefighters Assoc. and member of the Bucks County Firemans Relief Assoc. He was a State & Bucks County Fire Schools instructor and an instructor of professional, industrial, and commercial personnel in the use of fire exstinquishers. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Quakertown where he sang in the choir and served on various committees, the Wallace Willard Keller American Legion, Quakertown, where he had served as President, John Rivers Post VFW, Quakertown, & Vietnam Veterans Assoc. Surviving, sons, Ray Jr., wife Wendy, Pine Grove, step-son, Steven Goodin, wife Debbie, Aberdeen, MD; step-daughters, Culleen Mandigo, husband James, Redwood, NY, Anita Williams, husband Michael, Quakertown; 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, William, wife Pat , Ottsville, Lee, Quakertown. Service: 11:00 am Saturday, March 6 in Trinity Lutheran Church, Quakertown. Call: 7:00-9:00 pm Friday, March 5 and 9:00-10:30 am Saturday in the church. Interment: Quakertown Union Cemetery.
