Paul V. Schultz Sr., 85, of Richland Township, formerly of Quakertown died on Oct. 3, 2012. Born in Riegelsville, PA on February 27, 1927, he was the son of the late John H. Schultz Sr. and Anna E. (Carroll) Schultz. He was the husband of the late Loretta V. (Miller) Schultz who died Oct. 2, 2009 after 56 years of marriage. He graduated with the class of 1945 from Quakertown High School, but he and 17 other members of the class were unable to attend gradation because they were in the military service for our country. He served with the U.S. Navy on board a Destroyer Escort in the South Pacific and China. He and 5 other members of his class participated in graduation ceremonies at the invitation of the class of 2000. Paul also graduated from Pierce Business School in Philadelphia in 1949. He was a salesman for John Hancock Mutual Life Insurance Company for 33 and a half years, retiring in 1987. After that time he worked for the food department in Quakertown Community School District for 7 years. He was a life member of Quakertown Fire CO. #1 and served as chief of the Quakertown Fire Department from 1967 through 1970. He was also a life member of the American Legion Post 255 in Sellersville and served as Adjutant of Post 242 in Quakertown for 37 and a half years before transferring to Sellersville in 2006. He also served a one year term as the Adjutant of the Eastern Section of the Pennsylvania American Legion. He was preceded in death by sisters, Marie Smith, Kathleen Shelly, Genevieve Brzezicki; brothers, E. Carroll and John H. Jr.; and daughter, Patricia J. Berle. He is survived by sons Paul V. Jr. of Nashville, TN, and Gregory S. of Laughlin, NV; grandchildren Laurie Haas, Jennifer Berle, Holly Berle, Paul V. Schultz III, Rachael Karcher and great-grandchildren, Mason Schultz and Olivia Patricia Berle, 58 nieces and nephews. Services will be held, Mon. Oct. 8 11am in Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral and Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd. Quakertown. Call: 10-11am in the funeral home. Burial at Fort Indiantown Gap Cemetery in Annville PA.
