Paul C. Maloney, 82, of Quakertown, PA, previously of Iowa and Michigan, passed away at his home on Monday, August 27th, 2018. He was the loving husband of Lois F. (Wimberley) Maloney, whom they just celebrated 58 years of marriage in August. Born in Michigan, he was a son of the late Harold and Lilly (Depew) Maloney. Paul was a remarkable and humble man who had achieved many things during his lifetime. He was an Archeologist, Anthropologist, and Geologist, and took a passion in Near Eastern Studies. He took special interest in the Shroud of Turin, where he actually got to witness and study the shroud. His research spanned over three decades and he was known globally for his contributions. Paul was also a very artistic and delightfully curious man who was passionate about many things. He was the king of puns, a magician, a musician (banjo, harmonica, ukulele), an explorer, and a wonderful joke teller. Most of all, Paul was a loving and dedicated husband and father. Paul was a college professor at two different universities - Vennard College and Penn Wesleyan College. He taught diverse courses; linguistics, theology, Greek, Hebrew, Biblical Studies, Archeology and Anthropology. He also taught middle school science class at Quakertown Christian Day School. Paul was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Quakertown where he sang in the church choir and taught Sunday School. He and his wife also often attended Grace Lutheran Church in State College, PA. Surviving, his wife, Lois F. (Wimberley) Maloney, and sons: Mark Clifton Maloney of State College, PA, and Edwin James Maloney, late companion Robinette Diaz of Quakertown, grandson: Alexander Nicholas Maloney, siblings: Naomi Key, husband Bob of Seattle Washington and Richard M. Maloney, late wife Lavern of Michigan. He was predeceased by sister: Goldiemae Cook. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 1st, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 102 N Hellertown Ave, Quakertown, PA, beginning with the viewing at 1 pm, the service at 2 pm, and committal at the Union Cemetery, followed by an informal gathering and a meal across the street at the church activity center. Memorial contributions can be made in his name to either church.
