Paul Gerhart Sr. aka "Red Man"
Paul was born in Lederach, PA. to Beulah and Russell Gerhard on June 20, 1940. He was predeceased in death his mother Beulah, father Russell, brothers Larry, Robert, Russell "Sonny Boy", and his sisters Marian and Doris. He has a sister Lizzieann (Richard) Miller.
Paul is survived by his wife Evelyn aka "Shorty". They were married 61 years. He has 2 sons Paul Jr. (Rebecca Gerhart) and Andrew Gerhart (Sherry) from Ohio. He has 4 grandchildren Samantha Gerhart, Renee' Curby (Brandon), Richard Clements (Sandra), and Zachary Gerhart.
Paul was a Veteran of the Army 1958-1961. He was in the 82 Airborne. When asked what he did in the service he would say "I was one of the crazy ones that jumped from perfectly good airplanes." He was last stationed in Okinawa. He worked in construction for over 40 years. Paul and Emerson Wismer had a business called Wismer & Gerhart Masonry. During that time Paul worked with Dave Bealer in Masonry. Paul also worked for himself for a short bit. Twenty-five years of his masonry work was with Nestor Brothers from Pennsburg, PA. Paul received his Gold Watch for Twenty-five years of service.
Paul was regularly active with John Rivers Memorial VFW Post 11322 and Sports For Special Kids (Baseball For Special People INC ⚾️). Paul was loved by many people in the community. He was on Trumbauersville Council back in the day. Paul was President on Trumbauersville Borough Council. Paul also helped with the idea on the new Christ's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Trumbauersville in 1979. He built the original foundation to the church marquee in front of the property. He would do anything to help make a difference.
He will be missed by his family and those that new him. Rest in peace.
