Paul L. Barndt, of Quakertown, died Tues., April 3, 2012 at home following a brief battle with cancer. He was born in Trumbauersville on May 21, 1928, and was the husband of the late Mary Lou (Gerhart) Barndt to whom he was married for 59 years. He graduated from Quakertown Community High School, received a BA degree from East Stroudsburg State College, and a MA degree from Lehigh University. Following service in the US Army, he began a 32 year career with the Quakertown Community School District. He taught a variety of courses and coached several sports at the JV and Varsity level, including head varsity baseball coach at the high school. Later in his career he was the Assistant Principal and Principal of the high school, and served as the acting Superintendent. During his retirement he remained active in the community serving organizations such as the Quakertown Hospital and the Upper Bucks YMCA, among others. He continued his love of sports by engaging in Senior Olympicsm competing at the national level. His hobbies included: walking, biking, skiing and volunteering as a coach of track and football. He is survived by a son Jeffrey and his wife, Kathleen, of Houston, TX; and a daughter, Paula Herman and her husband Jawn, of Reeders; and four grandsons: Paul, Jonathan, James and Matthew. Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Upper Bucks YMCA, 401 Fairview Ave., Quakertown, PA 18951.
