Nancy Cook

d. January 1, 2017

Nancy Ann (Hopkins) Cook of Kintnersville passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at Lehigh Valley Hospital after a courageous battle. She was 69 and the loving wife of 48 years to David C. Cook. Born in Mt. Holly, NJ, Nancy was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Natalie (Marshall) Hopkins. After graduating from Central Bucks and Lock Haven University, she taught first grade for 34 years at North Wales and Montgomery Elementary in North Penn School District. Nancy was a master teacher who supervised many student teachers and was instrumental in developing T-1, the transitional first grade curriculum. All children could sense that she was their champion and protector. However, her biggest accomplishment and joy was being a wife and mother. In addition to her husband David, Nancy is survived by her children Gregory, James (Jennifer) and Kathryn. Her best friends were her sisters Diana Hazzard (Stephen Jr.) of Buckingham, and the late Debra Phillips. As a caring grandmother she was so proud of Emma, Alex, Liam, Taylor and Anna Cook of Telford, Pa. She loved hosting swim parties for her devoted nieces, nephews, and brothers-in-law Scott Cook of Doylestown and Andrew Allen of Riegelsville. Nancy was an adventurous world traveler who toured the Caribbean Islands, England, France, Belgium, and Italy. Alaska, Hawaii, Myrtle Beach, Branson and Disney World were favorite U.S. destinations. Best of all was any seashore or pool. She also volunteered many years at Doylestown Hospital at the patient information desk and VIA maternity ward. She adored babies. As a member of the Village Improvement Association, she served on many committees and annual Bucks County Designer House. Nancy was not only a voracious reader but also a tutor to her grandchildren. The world was a better place with Nancy's love and generosity. She was always a joyful person whose warm smile, bright eyes and soft voice brought you into her world of peace and calm. She would like everyone to celebrate her life with an act of kindness in her name. A family greeting will be held at Lenape Valley Presbyterian Church, Rt. 202 in New Britain, on Friday, March 24th at 4:00 with a memorial service at 4:30 followed by a happy gathering in her honor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Doylestown Hospital Children's Village, or to the Village Improvement Association, both at 595 E. State St., Doylestown, PA 18901.
