Monica Lennon

Monica (Burghardt) Lennon, 93 of Lower Saucon Township, died Sunday, Nov. 2 at Sacred Heart Senior Living, Center Valley, PA. She was the wife of the late Eugene F. Lennon, Jr. Born in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Monica (McGuinness) Burghardt. Monica graduated from North Plainfield High School, New Jersey, in 1940 with future brother-in-law Peter Blasczak. Monica tried secretarial school and found it wasn't her cup of tea, so she decided to join her sister at Elizabeth General Hospital and Dispensary School of Nursing in Elizabeth, New Jersey in 1941. The sisters were roommates, and graduated together in 1944. Nursing students were expelled if they married during training, so Monica waited until after graduation to marry Eugene. Monica worked in many of the hospitals where Eugene's army postings took them including Texas, Washington DC, and Florida. Surviving are her sons; Michael and his wife Jan; Gerard and his wife Linda; grandchildren Bradford, Ryan, Elizabeth, Brian, Marianne and their families; great-grandchildren Finnian Turner Lennon and Annika Parker; sister, Julia Blaszcak; sister-in-law, Margaret Burghardt; many, many loving nieces and nephews and their families. Monica was pre-deceased by; son, Thomas; brother, Louis Burghardt, Jr. and brother-in-law, Peter Blasczak, Sr. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, Nov. 29 at the St. John's UCC, 4. N. Main St., Richlandtown, PA. Family and friends can call from 10 to 11 am. Date of interment in Arlington National Cemetery to be provided at a later time.
