Michael John Mandic Sr.

Michael John Mandic Sr, 79, of Quakertown passed away peacefully on Friday September 13, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospice House, Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of Mary Ann Mandic.

Born March 6, 1945, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Helen (Duna) Mandic. Raised in Haycock Township, Michael was the third oldest of eight children. He had two older sisters that preceded him in death: Jean Richardson (Wesley) and Nancy Bradley. He also had five younger brothers: Jerry (Julie), Steve (Kate), Joseph (deceased), Ed (Kathy), and Lou (Desiree). He is survived by three children: Michael John Mandic Jr, Thomas Edward Mandic, and Amber Jelene Zakharova (Aleksandr). He also has two grandchildren: Joshua (Lori-Anne), Felicia, and three great grandchildren: Marley, Everett, and Delilah.

His early years were spent growing up on the family farm. He enjoyed spending time with the animals and helping his uncle Tony with farm responsibilities. From an early age he developed a mechanical aptitude as well as resourcefulness and good work ethic. He began his career as a heavy equipment operator with Jos. Ciccone and Sons and was instrumental at the blacktop plant in Bath, Pennsylvania. He worked for the same employer for over 50 years and was highly regarded as “King of the Road”.

His heart was soft and this was evident in how children were always drawn to him. This brought him great joy. He will be remembered for his loyalty. Family was most important to him and he was known amongst friends and family for dropping everything to help when it was needed. He was a man of few words but what he said was full of wisdom. He instilled in his children good values, based upon his beliefs in the Bible. He was baptized in 1983 as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Up until his death, he spoke from the heart about eagerly awaiting being reunited in paradise with those he loved who had passed away.
