Louis Slusher

d. January 1, 2014

Louis W. Slusher, 83, of Richlandtown, passed away Saturday, November 1st at St. Luke's Hospice House of the VNA, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Janis Baker (nee Boardman) Slusher for the past 23 years and the late Phyllis (Jones) Slusher. Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Louis and Ethel (McFarland) Slusher. He came to appreciate the Bible and study it in earnest while under the musical instruction of his good friend, Joe Sgro, in the 1950's. He dedicated his life to Jehovah God in 1957 and served as a full time minister for the next 11 years. His passion for playing music supported his ministry through the years but as one of Jehovah's Witnesses his first love was teaching people the Bible. In addition to his love for God and love of music, he was well known for his sense of humor and positive outlook in life. Surviving with his wife are his daughter, Dawn Vigil, husband Rob of Red Hill; stepsons, Chris Baker, wife Melissa of Doylestown and Jonathan Baker of Bethlehem; stepdaughter, Jennifer Rubino, husband Philip of Bath; grandchildren, Abigail, Aidan and Jillian Vigil; step grandchildren, Nicholas, Dominic, Gabrielle Rubino and Lilianna Baker; brother, James Slusher; sister, Florence Bates. He was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Majewski. He is also survived by nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 15th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1000 Doylestown Pike, Quakertown, PA 18951
