Joseph Francis Brennan Jr.
Father, brother, uncle, friend, life-long golfer and retired insurance agent, Joseph Brennan's love of life didn't come to an end with his death. Joe passed away on May 24, 2021 at the age of 81 after struggling with dementia. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of his word, intelligent and a quiet comedian.
Joe was the youngest of three children, born in New York City in 1939. His family soon moved to Queens Village. Joe quickly made friends on the streets of Queens, playing basketball and kick the can. Richie, Bobbie G and little Joey continued their friendship after Joe moved to Garden City, New York in the early 70's. They added another friend Bob to the mix, called themselves "the card guys" and played cards every Wednesday of his life until his retirement.
Joe graduated high school in 1957, married, joined the army and started his family. After serving his country, Joe joined his Queens buddies as an insurance agent for Allstate. He worked alongside his best friends for thirty-five years until his retirement in 1996. Joe will be remembered as the father everyone wanted- always up for a game of catch, board games, cards, loved to take his daughters to sporting events, the opera, etc. Joe never complained as he drove his youngest daughter Becky to morning swim practice daily, attended every summer league and USA swim meet swim meet near and far and could be seen in the stands with a stopwatch around his neck, recording every one of her races into his swim notebook. He continued his commitment to family, attending nearly all of his grandchildren's events and took a special interest in his grandchildren's swimming.
Joe's memory faded in his last years. He sought comfort in his favorites- family trips to Bermuda, the Yankees and his addiction to Twizzlers. Even though his memory faded, his memory will live on in minds of his loved ones. Joe is survived by his three daughters and most closely remembered by his daughter Becky, her three children Sophie, Olivia and Samuel along with their cousins, Kat and Joshua.
Services and interment will be held privately. Contributions in his memory may be made to Alzheimer's Association
