John E. "Jack" Yost, 86 of Allentown, formerly of Quakertwon, died Sat., Mar. 30 in Phoebe Home - Allentown. He was the husband of the late Berta J. (Schneider) Yost. Jack worked 44 years for the US Gauge, Division of Ametek, Inc, Sellersville retiring as a production supervisor in quality control. He is a 1945 graduate of Quakertown High School but was excused from his final semester to serve his country with the US Navy during WWII, which included time in the South Pacific. Jack actively served his community as a volunteer ambulance driver for the former Quakertown Community Hospital, and later joined Quakertown Fire Co. #1 where he served on the ambulance corp. & fire police, was a past treasurer and a life member. He was an instructor in first-aid and CPR for the American Red Cross for over 50 years, including instruction on the use of an AED. He also taught classes for the American Heart Assoc., National Safety Council, and the American Safety & Health Institute. He was an EMT and an EMT instructor for the Pa Dept. of Health. He retired from volunteer teaching at age 83. He was a member of Quakertown Lodge # 512, F. & A.M., Friendship Forest #146, Tall Cedar of Lebanon, AARP Chapter 3377, Quakertown where he had served as president. He is survived by daughter, Kathryn A. Mitman, Quakertown; grandchildren, Jared and Kara Mitman and dear friend, Carolyn Potser. Services will be 2:30 pm Thurs., April 4 in Jeffrey A.
