John Schmidt

John F. Schmidt, 89, of Quakertown, formerly of Gilbertsville, died Sun., Dec. 15, in Reading Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of over 48 years, Edith (Halteman) Schmidt, in 2004. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Fredrick and Georgina (Ruether) Schmidt. He was a member and Deacon of Haycock Mennonite Church, Quakertown. John was a dairy farmer for over 60 years. He worked for 15 years for Spring Glen Farms at Zern's Market, Gilbertsville. He is survived by sons; Jonathan, wife Eileen, Quakertown, Paul, wife Brenda, Watsontown and Mark, wife Linda, Gilbertsville; daughter Elaine Emrick, husband Andrew, Quakertown; 20 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister, Georgina Derstine and a granddaughter. Memorial Contributions may be made to Haycock Mennonite Church, 1639 Mission Road, Quakertown. Services will be held Mon, Dec. 23, 10:30 am, in the Haycock Mennonite Church. Call Sun, Dec. 22, 2-4 pm & 6-8 pm in the Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W.
