83, of Coopersburg, PA, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was born April 23, 1938, in Absecon Highlands, NJ, to the late William and Pearl Mong. He graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1957 and enlisted in the Marine Corp. After serving he attended Atlantic Community College. He then joined the NJ Carpenter's Union, local #623 located in Atlantic County. He retired after 38 years after applying his carpentry skills to many construction projects in the Atlantic County Area. He was blessed to enjoy 23 years of retirement and enjoyed traveling, taking cruises, and using his creative skills to carve birds. He was a long-time member of the American Legion (Charles Hammell Post #28 in Absecon, NJ.) He was a member of the Holy Spirit High School Father's Club and the Absecon Youth Sports Organization, coaching football and baseball.
He is survived by wife Juanita, with whom he shared 61 years of marriage on July 2nd, sons, John Jr., and wife Melissa of Linden, MI, Timothy and wife Lourdes, of Coopersburg, PA., grandchildren. Timothy Mong Jr., Shane Mong, Jonah Mong, Ava Mong, and Aidan Mong, as well as his siblings, Bill and Jim Mong, and Dorothy McCaffrey and Pearl Koteles.
Services will be held privately, entrusted to Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd, Quakertown, PA 18951. In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree in John's memory.
