Emblem

John “Jack” Joseph Keeny, 80, of Quakertown, PA, passed away at Grandview Hospital on January 28th, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, Jack was the son of the late John J. Keeny and the late Elizabeth M. (Mullen) Keeny.

Jack attended school in Norfolk, Virginia. After High School, he attended Temple University. Jack dedicated his life to serving his country, he proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 ~ 1964. He began working at Breyer’s Ice Cream as a truck driver and enjoyed it so much he remained there for many years until the closing of the plant. His family remembers fondly the “goodie boxes” he would come home with after a run. He also worked for various trucking companies. He recently worked at Quad Graphics and eventually retired from there in 2016.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors, in his free time, Jack enjoyed vacationing in Chincoteague Island, watching horse races, traveling with his wife, watching television in his comfy recliner, spending time with his family, friends and more importantly his dogs, Lucy, Reesie and Charlie. He was happiest when he was with his family and outside with the dogs. Jack always had a special place in his heart for all his family members near and far. He loved sending his granddaughter Ellie funny text messages almost daily and he was her unofficial “jewelry repairman”. Jack will be remembered as a humble, funny, hardworking man, who loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

Jack will be dearly missed by his wife, Renate, together they shared 58 loving years of marriage; his children, Michael Keeny (Denise), Mary (Keeny) Schrantz (Joseph); his grandchildren, Nicole, Alexandra, Anna, and Ellie; and great granddaughter, Riley; his siblings, Karen Knox (Joseph), Dennis Keeny (Martina), and Judy Norman (John); along with extended family members, friends, and dogs Reesie and Charlie.
