HOWARD C WORLEY August 8, 1922 to August 21, 2012 Long time Trumbauersville resident Howard Worley passed away peacefully at his home on August 21 2012. He had just celebrated his 90th birthday. Howard is survived by his wife of 41 years, Pauline (Decker) Worley. Also surviving are daughters Sandra Spencer, Geraldine Weidemoyer (husband Gary), Debra Landis (husband Ray), Linda, Sandra and Karen Simpson; sons Thomas Worley, James Simpson and Robert Simpson (wife Brenda); grandchildren, Rachel Whalen (husband Sean), Amber Parron (husband Alex) Yvonne Worley, Robin, Lisa, Heather, Jason Miller, Crystal Griffo (husband Nick), Samantha Simpson, Jamie Simpson, Robyn Hrycko (husband Lance) and Jackie Noell, Stephen Worley (wife Tanya), Eric Weidemoyer, Joseph LaBelle, Stephen Martin, Christopher Simpson; and 20 great grandchildren. Mr. Worley was predeceased by his first wife Nancy (Citko) Worley, daughter Kimberly Worley Clark and brother Earl Worley. Mr. Worley spent his high school years in South Montrose, PA with Lee and Pat Sebring. Following graduation he enlisted in the Army as an aircraft armorman. He was reassigned in the Air Force after he came back from over sees at Willow Grove. Mr. Worley served in England, Africa, Malta, Sicily, and Italy. In 1943 he was assigned to the 509 Atomic Bomb Group. After training at Wendover Field, Utah, he was sent to Tinion where he worked loading and unloading both atomic bombs. He served under Colonel Tibits of the Enola Gay. Mr. Worley married Nancy Citko after WW II and moved to Philadelphia where he worked as a mason. In 1951 he returned to military service in the Naval reserves at Willow Grove Naval Station. In 1954 he moved his family to Trumbauersville. After discharge from the Navy he worked at the Quakertown Post Office., Pleasant Valley Post Office and was postmaster at both Salford and Trumbauersville. He retired from the Post Office in 1988. Mr. Worley worked with the Boy Scouts in Zion Hill as assistant Scout Master and helped to form the Explorer Post. He became an Explorer Advisor and a member of the Order of the Arrow. Mr. Worley was a life member of the VFW, American Legion Post 242, DAV, and commander for 5 years, 40-8 Fleet Reserve Branch 146, North Penn Gun Club in Trumbauersville and the Betterment Club. He was also a member of Coopersburg Fire Company Social Hall. Mr. Worley traveled to all 48 States. He enjoyed playing cards and was known for his ballroom dancing. A memorial service will be held at 7 PM Wed, Aug. 29 in Christ's Church of UCC, 101 N. Main St, Trumbauersville.
