Hazel Adina Cochrane

Hazel Cochrane, 92, passed away in Quakertown, PA, on January 1st, 2025, in her home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cross Roads, St. Ann, Jamaica, Hazel was the daughter of Felix McCalla and Uralee (Brown) McCalla.

Hazel attended Moneague Primary School from which she graduated. In her early years, she took music lessons after school.

After graduating Moneague School, Hazel immigrated to New York where she lived with her Uncle Pops (Stanley) in Queens. Hazel worked as a caregiver for children and the elderly for a number of years.

She later returned to Jamaica where she married Kenneth Cochrane. Together they raised six children, Horace, Jimmy, Sharon, Romeo, Ken, and Juliet.

She had a passion for cooking, baking, and entertaining. Hazel was a homemaker extraordinaire who welcomed everyone and her homemade dishes were the delight of family and friends.

Hazel was an active member of the Monague Anglican Church in Jamaica from childhood. Upon Moving to Quakertown, she was baptized and joined the Rocky Ridge Mennonite Church where she remained a member for 20 years. She always had a special place in her heart for her religious devotions and was an avid reader of the Bible and other inspirational texts.

Hazel was known for her graciousness to all she encountered. She always remembered the birthdays of family members and friends and would frequently write letters or send cards with inspirational messages to loved ones.

Hazel was happiest when she was surrounded by her family and friends during the annual backyard gatherings. She loved her family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

Hazel is predeceased by her parents, Felix and Uralee; her brothers, Sydney, Leslie, and Harold; her sisters, Ruby, Hilsa, Clarice, and Birdy.

Hazel will be dearly missed by her children, Horace and his wife Joy, Jimmy and his wife Trenise, Sharon, Romeo, Ken and his wife Jannell, and Juliet and her husband Wally; her grandchildren, Nyron, Cheryl, Patrick, Lakia, Ryan, Tracy, Taj, Andrew, NaToya, Kenny, Kenya, Kendra, Winter, Harmony, Ocean, Ashley, and Shannon; her great-grandchildren, Mia, Damon, Alex, and Aluna; along with her extended family members and friends.
