Fred W. Guenst, 68, of Quakertown, died Sunday, October 30, in Easton. He was the husband of Melanie (Keller) Guenst. They were married for 10 years last December. Born in Quakertown, he was the son of the late John and Dorothy (Sames) Guenst. He graduated from Quakertown High School, Class of '62 and served with the U.S. Navy 1962-64. Fred was a man of many talents, worked many vocations, served in leadership roles, loved the outdoors, and served others and his community in many ways. He was a former police officer in Quakertown & Lansdale, worked in law enforcement in southern states, was a Deputy Game Warden, and presently worked with security at the Quakertown Farmers Market. He formerly was head of Quakertown Borough Public Works, Quakertown Fire Marshal, and presently Fire Marshal for Richland Twp. Fred was involved in fire service for years, a former member of Richlandtown Fire Co., West End Fire Co., where he served as Battalion Chief, and currently was an active member of Quakertown Fire Co. #1. He was a past Chief of the Quakertown Fire Dept., Battalion of Chief for the Upper Bucks County Haz-Mat team, a Bucks County Fire School instructor, EMT, and currently was a PA Forest Fire Warden & former Patrolman. Fred was a member of numerous affiliated organizations and the American Legion, Quakertown. Most recently, he spent time farming & raising animals on his Haycock Twp. residence and loved to spend leisure time in his tree stand hunting. Surviving with wife, son Brian S., wife Buffy of Quakertown; daughter, Carol Diehl, husband Greg of Coopersburg; step-son, Christopher Simmer, wife Kaitlin of Quakertown; step-daughter, Kelly Graham, husband David of Concord, NC; grandchildren, Brian Jr., Ashley, Jarrett; step-grandchildren, Shanyn, Aurora, Taran. Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Mon, Nov. 7th in the Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown.
