Eva Halewich, 91, of Quakertown, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thurs, June 23rd at Phoebe Richland Health Care Center, Richlandtown. She was the wife of the late Walter Halewich who passed away in 1987. Born in the Ukraine, she was a daughter of the late Ivan and Antoninia (Nikitiuk) Prociuk. She worked as a seamstress for various clothing factories in the Quakertown Area for many years. During World War II, she was forced into labor in Germany and Austria. After the war, she moved to the United States in 1950. Family and friends will always remember her for never wanting anyone to leave a table hungry. The memory of her delicious pierogis, stuffed cabbage, baked breads and different soups will be fondly remembered by all. She was a member of St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Allentown. Her deep faith in God kept her through good times and bad. She is survived by her daughters, Irena Ulrich, husband, Robert and Stefania and her husband John DeMatteo, both of Quakertown; grandchildren, Jennifer Abate, husband John and Emily DeMatteo. She was also looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild within the next few weeks. She was predeceased by sisters, Nadia, Anastasia, and Olga. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Wed. June 29th at St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1031 Fullerton Ave, Allentown. Friends and family are invited to call from 6:00-8:00 PM Tues. June 28th in Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown. The Paristas will be recited at 7:30 PM. Interment in St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
