Eugene Raymond "Gene" Boyer, born in Philadelphia, PA on April 14, 1944, passed away peacefully at his home on March 15, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love for his family. Gene proudly served his country with dedication and honor in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, GA, during the Vietnam War.
In his early years, Gene lived in Quakertown, PA, where he developed a love for the outdoors. He cherished time spent with his parents, Miriam and Roy, and his sister, Jane, especially during summers at Lake Wallenpaupack in the Pocono Mountains. "The Mountains" became an enduring passion in Gene’s life, offering him joy, solace, and lasting memories.
Gene carried his love for the Mountains into adulthood, purchasing his own home near the family cabin. He loved being on the water in his boat. He delighted in sharing this cherished place with his daughters, Sherri and Heather, where they spent countless summers making memories together. In 1987, Gene met and married Judi Yurkanin. Together they built a life in Bethlehem, PA centered on family, faith, friendships and their love for dogs, especially Maggie, their yellow lab.
Gene will be remembered for his kind heart, quiet spirit, and steadfast devotion to his family. He leaves behind his wife, Judi Boyer, sister Jane Slifer of Richlandtown, PA, and two daughters, Sherri Weiland (Ward) of Bridgewater, NJ and Heather VanHanxleden (Lenny) of Bernville, PA. Gene and Judi, otherwise known as "Pop-pop and Mimi" have eleven grandchildren: Ethan, Carter, and Meah Weiland, Elijah VanHanxleden (Ashley), Corrie VanVleet (Calvin), Elizabeth Lapp (Carter), and Jude, Faith, Rachel, Gideon, and Ezekiel VanHanxleden; and four great-grandchildren: Lydia and Maisy VanHanxleden, and Phinehas and Darlene VanVleet.
