Emily Rose Fonsemorti (20) of Quakertown passed away peacefully on 12/21 just two days short of her 21st birthday. Emily battled Holoprosencephaly for the entire duration of her tragically short life and will be dearly remembered by her loved ones.
She is survived by her Mother Andrea Hicks, brother Leland and her two Grandfathers Richard Hicks and John Fonsemorti. She is preceded in death by her Father John Fonsemorti, her Grandmothers Kathryn Hicks and Rose Fonsemorti and her Uncle Anthony Fonsemorti.
Emily’s story is that of hope.
Born in Doylestown, in the cold December of 2003 - she warmed the hearts of her parents and gave them the greatest early Christmas gift they could have ever received.
A superbly happy child, Emily grew to become widely adored by her peers; including friends, family and strangers. If you were fortunate enough to meet her, you’d remember her forever.
She could never actually tell you what she wanted, or how she was feeling. But you knew. You knew with that unparalleled smile that almost beckoned for you to smile back. You couldn’t help it.
Her voice was her laugh. Bursting through with pure joy and a childlike wonder. And she had a lot to say, because so many things gave her so much happiness.
She taught you more in a brief exchange at a kitchen table by simply existing than a tenured professor could teach you in a semester. About patience. And how to be present. And how to adapt. And how to be happy.
And now she has taught us the sheer brutality of fragility. She leaves an open wound that most likely will heal through stories of her bravery and perseverance in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Odds she challenged and defeated.
Our beloved “Em” will not fade quietly into the night, she will go beaming into the light like the angel she was. Effervescent and radiant - bestowing her grace upon us for the rest of our time here. Watching over us with that inescapable smile to know that at each point; at each crossroad we face; she is with us.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 4th, 2025, at Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown, PA 18951. Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00pm and be followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm. Guests are encouraged to wear purple as that was Emily's favorite color.
