Elsie Doris (Thalmann) Cann, 88, of Quakertown, died Fri, June 15, 2012 at Life Quest Nursing Center. She was born on October 8, 1923 in Jersey City, NJ, but lived in Quakertown for the past 20 years. Elsie served in the U.S. Navy as part of the WAVES (Women Accepted for Volunteer Service) during WWII. She was a graduate of Farleigh Dickenson University, NJ. Elsie Doris enjoyed and volunteered at many different organizations; including her church, the Main Street Theater, Quakertown Senior Center, VFW, and WAVES National. Elsie Doris is survived by three children: Leslie Spurlin (David), Quakertown; David (Constance), Stockton, NJ and Charles, Quakertown; six grandchildren: Jeff and Chris Adams, Kimberly and Roxanne Cann, James and Eliot Bassett Cann; and three great grandchildren: Coi, Chase, and Alexis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clara and Louis Thalmann; a sister, Jeanne H. Thalmann; and Howard J. Cann whom she married on February 5th 1949 in Lyndhurst, NJ.
