Ella Louise Kling Mathis, 86, of Surfside Beach, SC, and formerly of Perkasie, PA, passed away Monday, March 06, 2017 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. She was born April 03, 1930 in Abington, PA, daughter of the late Elmer Ewing, Sr. and Elinor Doughty. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 35 years, Frederick C. Mathis, a son, Edward J. Kling, her brothers, John and Elmer Ewing, her granddaughters, Jessica Mathis and Sonja and Theresa Sharrer and great granddaughter, Emily Sharrer. Survivors include her daughters, Louise Kling Sharrer, wife of William Sharrer of Surfside Beach, SC, and Lisa Mathis Goetz wife of Joseph Goetz, sons, David W. Kling of Perkasie, PA, Frederick Mathis of Albrightsville, PA, and Michael Mathis of Canton, PA, eighteen grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. There are others that Ella adopted over the years. You know who you are. The family would like to offer a special thanks to Karen Madore at Grand Strand Hospital, as well as the nurses and CNA's that helped take care of her on both of her admissions and also to Dr. Ewa Marcinkowska for the loving care that kept her with us so long. Her hobbies included reading, collecting butterflies and angels, traveling, doing crafts, collecting recipes, going to the Marine Corp. reunion with her son and giving hospice care to others. Ella was a member of the Moose lodge and the Vietnam Veterans Association. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 1st at Naugle Funeral and Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown, PA. In lieu of flowers, the family request a contribution be made to a charity of ones choice.
