Dr. Edmund L."Doc" Zapp, 84, of Quakertown passed away Wed., April 6, in St. Luke's - Quakertown Hospital. A much loved husband, father, grandfather and devoted servant to his church and community died peacefully. Edmund was born in Newark, NJ to the late Edmund L. and Augusta (Rose) Zapp. He was the loving husband of Cynthia (Swenson) Zapp celebrating 60 years of marriage in 2010. He attended Belleville, NJ schools and graduated from Palmyra. NJ High School and the former Upsala College, E. Orange, NJ. Dr Zapp graduated from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He was a Fellow of the Pennsylvania Osteopathic Family Physicians and a life member of the American and Pennsylvania Osteopathic Medical Associations. He was President and owner of the Quakertown Osteopathic clinic where he practiced family medicine for 40 years. He served on the staff of Allentown Osteopathic (St. Luke's) Hospital and St. Luke's - Quakertown Hospital. He was a team physician for the Quakertown Community School district for 17 years. As a compassioinate physician he was dedicated to his patients, their families and the community. He was a devoted member of the First United Church of Christ, Quakertown where he served on the church council. Edmund served his country in the U.S. Naval Air Corp during World War II in both the Pacific & American theaters. He was a second generation Free Mason. His gentle spirit will be missed by many. Survivors: In addition to his wife, Cynthia are his children, Edmund L. III of York Haven, PA, David and his wife Jane of Wilder, KY; Frederick and his wife Amy of Hollis, NH and Cynthia and her husband Andrew Yacos of Stirling, NJ; sister Ruth (Zapp) Lide of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren: Christopher, Katie, Erica, Matthew, James, Haley, Leah, and Emily; son-in-law Jay Showalter. He was predeceased by a daughter Sally Showalter. Contributions may be made in his name in lieu of flowers to the First United Church of Christ, 151 S.
