Douglas Myers

October 29, 1939 — April 25, 2018

Douglas L. Myers, 78, of Coopersburg, passed away at Sacred Heart Senior Living in Center Valley early Wed., Apr. 25, 2018. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Holmes) Myers for 56 years. Born and raised in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Leon and Grace (Steers) Myers. He delivered the Morning Call for many years and served as a lifeguard when he was a teenager. Shortly after graduating from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, Doug joined the Air Force, where he worked as a hydraulic mechanic on the planes. This led to his life work as a hydraulic mechanic for utility trucks and fire trucks. He was an avid skier and motorcyclist who traveled the U.S., Canada, and the Alps many times over. He developed a love of photography early on and became quite an accomplished photographer. He took photos not only of his travels, but for many family occasions as well. Another hobby of Doug's was making small things out of wood, like music boxes and clocks. Doug was a member of Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Coopersburg, where he served as a deacon. Above all, Doug was a loving husband who genuinely enjoyed people, and liked to make everyone laugh. Surviving with Barbara is his sister, Phyllis Miller of Lititz; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lee Myers and a sister, Patricia Jani. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Sat., May 5 in Calvary Bible Fellowship Church, 6782 N. Main Street, Coopersburg, with a visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 617 Main St A, Hellertown, PA 18055.
