Douglas Allen Hake, 66, of Quakertown, died Tuesday, June 28th with his family by his side, after a two year battle with mesotheliomaa cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. Born June 8, 1945 he was the son of the late Albert and Marcelene (Beber) Hake. He was a 1963 graduate of New Hope Solebury High School. Doug served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1969. He worked at Merck for over 25 years. Doug was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed serving as troop leader for Boy Scout Troop 64 and Post 64 in Carversville, PA. He was always involved in his daughters' activities and served as a coach for the Quakertown T-shirt Soccer program and volunteer for the Quakertown Swim Team and Upper Bucks YMCA Swim Team. Additionally, he was an active member of American Veterans AMVET Post 2 in DE. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Murphy Hake; daughter Kristin Hake Klemish and husband, Ryan Klemish of Duryea, PA; daughter Kelly Hake of Quakertown; and beloved dog, Murphy. Also surviving is his brother, James Hake and family of Villanova, PA. A celebration of Doug's life will take place 11:00 am Sat., July 2 at Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 West Pumping Station Road, Quakertown. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home from 10 - 11:00 am Saturday.
