Dorothy I. Yanisch, fondly known as "Chutie", passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2011 at the age of 99 and a half. Born in Quakertown on May 26, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Florence (Lewis) Yanish. She was a former resident of West Chester and Hershey's Mill until becoming of resident of White Horse Village in Newtown Square in the time leading to her death. She graduated from Quakertown High School after which she went to West Chester State Teacher's College graduating with the class of 1935, and received her Master's of Education from Temple University. She taught Health and P.E. at a South Jersey School, the former Sell-Perk High School, Norristown High School and in the fall of 1947 began teaching at West Chester State College from which she retired in May of 1973. Throughout the years, she also coached hockey, basketball and softball. She was inducted into West Chester University's Women's Athletics Hall of Fame in 1989, and the Pennridge/Quakertown Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. She loved traveling and golf.
