Della Neiman

d. January 1, 2012

Della Marguerite Neiman, 97 of Quakertown. Della Marguerite Neiman died with dignity on Friday, March 16th at St. Luke's Hospice in Bethlehem. Born on November 25, 1914 on a farm in Milford Township, she was the youngest child of Emma Jane (Scheetz) and Gottlieb Brown. Her siblings, all deceased, were Arthur Brown, Florence Craft, Earl Brown, Guy Brown, and Virginia Wenhold Gliem. She graduated from Benner's One Room Schoolhouse at age 13 and began working as a seamstress. For nearly fifty years she worked for clothing manufacturers in the Upper Bucks County area until she retired in 1976. Della's legacy of love lives on in her 6 children, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. In 1930, she married William Everett Neiman, who died in 1975. They had 6 children: Janet, widow of Thomas Rowley of Perry, Georgia; William, deceased in 2009, married to Lillian Rhoades of Quakertown; Gail, deceased in 2008, married to Lawrence Snyder of Quakertown; Dean, deceased in 1944; Michele, married to Robert Harding of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina; and Jeffrey, married to Margit Hotz of Quakertown. They had 13 grandchildren: Mark Rowley and wife Sharon; April and husband Pete Christie; Patricia and husband David Seale; Ted Rowley; Susan and husband Ron Koder; Cathy and husband Alex Schuster; Belle, deceased in 1988, and husband Robert Mease; Wendy and husband Garry Lynn; John Neiman and wife Dawn; Daniel Snyder and wife Cindy; James Snyder and wife Brenda; Zachary Detwiler; Jake Neiman; and Madeleine Neiman. Della had 22 great grandchildren: Michael Rowley and Vanessa Cleator, Shawn Rowley; Stephen Christie deceased in 2011; Alexis Christie, deceased in 1985; Emily, married to Sean Brough; Ameilia Christie and Shae Frederick; Joseph Seipos; Jessica Seipos and Mikal Elder; David Seale; Samantha Rowley; Karrie, married to Jon Norman; Jill, married to Kyle Funk; Scott Koder, married to Julie; Elisabeth Schuster; Eric Schuster; Keith Lynn and Antonia Marzulli; William Neiman; Jesse Neiman; Samantha Snyder; Stephen Snyder; Kelly Snyder; and Jacob Snyder and Janelle Wilk. Della also had 7 great-great grandchildren: Rayne Rowley; Kylie Rowley; Allison Norman; Katelin Norman; Tyler Funk; Chase Koder; and Riley Snyder. Della was a quiet, loving, selfless woman who devoted her life to all of her children and was known by her family as "Nanny". For more than 50 years she was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Quakertown. In the years after her husband passed away, she was an active member of the Upper Bucks Senior Center, attending dinner shows, going on bus trips, playing bingo and participating in the Senior Olympics. At the age of 77, she bowled a 200 game. She loved to travel and spend time with her sister and best friend, Vergie. She enjoyed reading and loved to garden. She had a green thumb with plants and was happiest having her hands in the dirt. Della's passion and devotion, though, belonged to her many children. Always, Nanny was there for them: to listen, to love, to help in whatever way she could, and in return she was truly loved by all. Della's memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at Naugle Funeral Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown. Calling hours will be from 5:00-6:00 pm with a memorial service to follow at 6:00 pm. Interment will follow on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 9:00am at Quakertown Union Cemetery.
