Daniel Shertel

Daniel J. Shertel, 58, of Philadelphia, died Sat, Dec. 3, 2011 at Pennsylvania Hospital. Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of Daniel and Mary (Mooney) Shertel. He was a 1971 graduate of Bishop Newman High School. He served with the US Navy during the Vietnam War. Daniel worked as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in South Philly for 35 years, retiring in 2008. He was a member of the former St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, the VFW Post 8051 and the National Association of Letter Carriers #157. He was active with the Fitzwater Mummers, and was an avid Phillies fan. He is survived by many cousins. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012 in Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery, 1600 S. Sproul Rd., Springfield, PA.
