Clifford J. Worthington, 89, of Quakertown died Mon. Dec. 27th at Quakertown Center. He was the husband of the late Evelyn M. (Burkhardt) Worthington. Born in Trenton, NJ he was the son of the late Carver and Agnes (Kane) Worthington. He worked for the County of Bucks, maintenance department for over 10 years before retiring. Previously he was a building inspector for Lansdale Borough for 10 years and was self-employed in the plumbing & heating business. In 1960, he partnered with his brother-in-law to build the original Perkasie Dairy Queen. He served with the U.S. Army Air Corp during WW II and was a past member of the Wallace Willard Keller American Legion. He also served on Quakertown Borough Council for 28 years and was umpire for Quakertown Little League for many years. Clifford was a member of Grace Bible Fellowship Church, Quakertown and a life member of West End Fire Co., Quakertown for over 20 years. Surviving: son, James and wife Vicki; daughter, Jan Detweiler and husband Jay all of Quakertown; grandchildren, Bryan, Robin, Patrick, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Dwayne Jr., Ellasondra, Asante. He was predeceased by sister, Evelyn Needleman. Service will be held 11:00 am Fri, Dec. 31 at Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown. Call: 10:00-11:00 am Fri. Interment: Tohickon Union Cemetery.
