Clifford Arnold Helverson Jr.

Clifford “Arnie” Arnold Helverson Jr., 81, of Quakertown, PA, passed away on January 25th, 2025, at St. Luke’s Hospice. Born in Quakertown, Arnie was the son of the late Clifford A. Helverson Sr. and the late Ruth E. (Hager) Helverson. Arnie is predeceased by his wife, Contance A. (Miller) Helverson, together they shared 45 loving years of marriage.

Arnie attended the one room Fillman school, at the corner of Clymer Road and Sterner Mill Road, right up the road from his childhood home. After school, he worked at Freed Glass as a glass cutter and enjoyed it so much that he remained there until the Freed Glass closed in 1988. Afterwords he went to work at Artistic Glass and then finally worked at Weis, from which he retired. 

Arnie dedicated his life and proudly served his country, he was enlisted in the United States Army from 1964 – 1966. After serving in the Army, he went back to work at Freed Glass, where he met his future wife, Connie.

His passion for life extended well beyond his professional endeavors.  In his free time, Arnie enjoyed going to car shows, photography, building go-carts, family picnics, and playing claw machines. Arnie always had a special place in his heart for animals. Above all else, he loved his family deeply and cherished the time spent with them.

Arnie will be dearly missed by his children, Deb Helverson and Dan Helverson; his siblings and sister-in-law, Linda Helverson of Quakertown, Leenie Fitzgerald and husband, Henry, of Quakertown, Eleanor Saborsky of Quakertown, Ronald and wife, Carrie, of Georgia, Wanda Beer and husband, Jeff, of North Carolina, Neil and wife, Sharon, of Quakertown, Donna Peters and husband, Dennis, of Quakertown, Connie Pompei and husband, Randal, of East Greenville, and Wendy Helverson of Quakertown; brother-in-law, Timothy Miller and wife, Denise of Bechtelsville; and brother-in-law William Miller and wife, Kathleen, of Lansdale; along with his extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Arnie is predeceased by his brother, Robert.

A simple celebration of his life and luncheon will be held Saturday, February 15th, 2025, beginning at 11:00am, at Salem Mennonite Church, 41 E. Cherry Rd, Quakertown, PA 18951.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution to the Family Support Fundraiser set up to help the family cover the cost of Arnie's service.
