Charles Egner

Charles L. Egner, 85, of Quakertown, died Mon. July 3 in LifeQuest. He was the loving husband of Barbara (Somers) Egner for the past 58 years. Born in Quakertown, Charlie was a son of the late Robert L. and Elizabeth (Heffendrayer) Egner. He was a 1950 graduate of Quakertown High School and served with the US Army during the Korean War. He was a clerk for the US Postal Service for 37 years before retiring in 1989. Following retirement, he assisted as a funeral attendant for Naugle Funeral Home. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Quakertown where he served as a greeter & usher for many years. Charlie was a life member of the Wallace Willard Keller American Legion, Quakertown. Surviving with his wife are a daughter Lisa Young, husband Eric and son, Jon both of Quakertown; grandchildren Jennifer, fiancé George and Jeffrey Young; and sister, Elizabeth Renner of Wilkes Barre. He was predeceased by siblings LeRoy, Raymond, John, Beatrice Mackey, Ruth Kulp, and Mary Kandel. A memorial service will be held 2 PM Tues. July 11 in Trinity Lutheran Church, 102 N. Hellertown Ave., Quakertown. Family & friends are invited to call at the Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Rd., Quakertown Mon. evening July 10, 7 - 8:30 PM. Private interment will be in Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown. Memorial contributions can be made to the church.
