Brenda J. (Swinney) Matern, 61, of Perkasie died April 11, 2020 surrounded by her loved ones at her daughter's farmhouse in Sellersville. She was a wonderful mother to Jacqueline (Swinney) Strohm, age 39, and Vanessa Matern, age 24; and loving grandmother to Oliver and Piper Strohm, ages 10 and 8. Born in Sellersville, she was the daughter of James Swinney and Sue (Mecray) Swinney Overbaugh. She became a widow of her loving husband, Mark Matern, in 2015, to whom she was married for 24 years at the time of his passing. She worked as a laborer manufacturing automotive parts at Visteon in Colmar Pa and acted as a mentor by selflessly offering her advice and wisdom as guidance to those she cared for. She was an avid casino visitor and animal lover, who cared deeply for the dogs she owned all her life. Above all else, she was proud of her family and loved being a wife, mother, daughter, aunt, and G-ma. Surviving are her daughters Jacqueline (Swinney) Strohm, Vanessa Matern; grandchildren Oliver and Piper Strohm; mother Sue (Mecray) Swinney Overbaugh; and siblings Jim Swinney, Peggy Lewis, Carol Tyson, and Joe Swinney. In addition to her biological father and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Patty Bellot and step-father Harry S. Overbaugh Jr. Private services will be held at 11 am on Thursday April 16, 2020 at Sellersville Cemetery. The family plans to have a celebration of life to honor her later in the summer.
