Betty Jane (Raub) Young, age 91, died Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at St. Luke's Hospice House, Bethlehem. Born September 8, 1928, in Richlandtown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Emma (Lauhoff) Raub, and the widow of the late Robert A. Young, Sr. She adored her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the spouses they came to love. She doted on them all, worried about their strivings as they lived their lives, and celebrated their successes. Betty was an avid quilter and enjoyed any opportunity to sew and to create beautiful things with her friends and family. She had a deep faith which made her active in the congregations to which she belonged. While one her first jobs was at The Free Press, she was a long-time employee of the Quakertown School District, serving exclusively in the high school office, supporting the important work of administrators and teachers. She often shared stories of her colleagues, impressed with their talent and commitment to their students. Betty is remembered for her incredible kindness to all she encountered no matter who they were. Betty, partnered by companion Joseph F. Fischer, deceased, and husband Robert A. Young, Sr., deceased, is survived by: son Robert A. Young, Jr. (wife Shari); daughter Diane G. White, husband Kenneth, deceased; daughter Debra J. Bauman (husband Bruce); grandchildren Janel Kinlaw (husband Patrick), Brendan Young (wife Amy), Meghann Stelzer (husband Brad) , Lidarose Young, Graham Young, Amy Shaffer (husband Chris), Lindsay Baver (husband Alex), and Joel Bauman; great-grandchildren Audrey, Lucy, Nora, Nathan, Evelyn, Sebastian, Will, Dean, Chase, and Reagan; as well as several beloved cousins. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, November 23, at St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church, 333 E. Oxford St., Coopersburg, PA 18036.
