Bertha Fluck, age 98, died August 4, 2012 in Belle Haven Nursing Home in Quakertown. She was the widow of Herbert Fluck who died on October 18, 2000. They had celebrated 61 year of marriage. Born July 5, 1914, Bertha was the youngest of six children born to Michael and Amelia (Huss) Schultz of Haycock, Bucks County. She was preceded in death by her two brothers and three sisters. Bertha spent her entire life in Haycock Township and Quakertown. She was believed to be the oldest surviving student educated in the one room school-house of Haycock. She was employed all of her life and spent much of her career working for the various clothing manufacturers in Quakertown. Her last eleven years of employment were spent as a cafeteria worker in the Quakertown Senior High School. Students will remember her fondly as "The Ice Cream Lady" as she sold the frozen treats during lunch periods for many years. She is survived by her son, David, of Quakertown, nieces Barbara Scotese of Doylestown, Denise Capaldi of Chalfont, and Nancy Weismuller of Virginia, nephews Daniel Ritter of Quakertown, and Philip Ritter of Slatington, and four cousins, Gladys Mraz, Dorothy Hey, Helen McKillip and Elizabeth Allender. She also leaves behind her beloved tiger cat, "Puddie", who was able to produce the last smile on Bertha's face. During Bertha's life, she was active in her church serving on several women's groups and was a member of the former Town and Country Garden Club in Quakertown. Always a famer at heart, she took great interest in her lawn, garden, and flowers. She also enjoyed traveling with her family and her sisters as well as the Upper Bucks Senior Center and ventured as far west as Yellowstone National Park. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Saturday, August 11, 2012 in the Jeffrey A. Naugle Funeral & Cremation Service, 135 W. Pumping Station Road, Quakertown, PA followed by graveside services at 11:00 AM in Quakertown Union Cemetery.
